Welcome to Quintessa! It was my fear of horses that began this journey! Well, the rest is as they say................ history. Early on, with the good advice of some great friend, we were able to purchase "Tribute". Son of the great Prince Tennessee Monashee. At the time all I knew was that he took my breath away! Then the opportunity to purchase Meridians Electra Dynamo #31358 came to us. Electra, like Tribute was ahead of her time. Born in 1989, she is elegant upright and fine boned. She has only had 6 foals. But 4 of them are, Meridians Araire Destiny a National Champ #104024, Meridians Eklektic Destiny #111613, a true legend and ML Electras Melody #146765 another World Grand Winner, and then came Dominus! I will always remember the night he was born. The kids and I running back and forth to the barn! For some reason we were a bit silly that night! Then, at 305 days pregnant, emerged this tiny boned colt! We were really holding our breath, he looked more serpentine then equine! His neck was tucked in the fetal position and then, he uncurled. This HUGE eye opened, he raised his long neck, looked up at us, as if to say "You looken at me?!" MAGICAL! I made alot of phone calls that night! From the beginning I knew he was special. I thank the heavens for this horse. With the addition of Dominus I knew the "type" of horse I wanted to breed. Arabian type, fine boned, high neck set that hooks elegantly, with that something extra in the pole, tiny throat latch, and big eyes. At this point I want to mention "gray". I hear once in awhile, "but they're gray!" Arabian horses and predominately gray. They can't wait for them to turn gray! For me the gray goes with the Araby package. I wouldn't pass on a horse with all the right attributes because it's gray. If so I wouldn't be where I am today. But I do understand that everyone has personal preferences. Dominus has had 10 foals, 6 are from 2010. His early get have won both Grands and Supremes and will hopefully go on to both win in the show ring, contribute to our breeding program and pass on they're qualities to other farms. I am always searching for crosses that will contribute and enhance our program. As you know it's not easy. The breed is changing all the time. I am offering some of our special mares for sale. They have enhanced our program and I am retaining their daughters. My hope is that they will enhance other programs too. Take a peek into Quintessa. You might find just what you're looking for in a true Arabian Type Miniature Horse! Seize the day! Toni |
